In Human Design, an important aspect of your experiment is to encounter the Signposts of Resistance. These show up in the form of

Generators feeling frustrated
Manifestors feeling angry
Projectors feeling bitter
Reflectors feeling disappointed

Simply put, these are the “Not-Self” themes that we risk experiencing when we choose ways of doing things that are not correct for us. Dealing with those themes means that, somewhere along the road, you made a decision that led in the wrong direction.

Human Design can help you become

Satisfied as a Generator
Peaceful as a Manifestor
Successful as a Projector
Surprised as a Reflector

That is what we call Signature.

The angry Manifestor boils inside. Only when the Manifestor learns to inform others does anger subside. We need effective Manifestors in the world because they are great initiators and efficient doers. However, the vast majority operate alone, with a simmering anger and a deep refusal to engage with others in order to avoid being controlled.

The only way for a Manifestor to reach Peace is to inform before they act. This is the mechanical key for them to use their energy effectively. Informing before taking action prevents others’ resistance and allows the Manifestor to actualize their potential, because the community around them can then respect their ability to manifest without interfering.

Generators can be extremely frustrated because the mind has dominated their decision making, leading them into uncomfortable situations when their energy is not applied in the right way. As a result, they more often than not end up quitting. A Generator can only know what is correct to engage in by waiting to respond before taking action.

There is only one thing that can bring real transformation and satisfaction to the life of a Generator: to stop acting like a Manifestor! In other words, to stop initiating and going after things—because nothing that is initiated will ever bring real satisfaction.

Projectors can be deeply rooted in the theme of bitterness, and this bitterness comes from not being recognized. It is the lack of recognition that sours a Projector’s life experience. With its gift of gaining recognition, a Projector can guide the energy potential of others and their capacity to get things done.

The Projector’s gift, once recognized and invited, is its ability to help guide others. It is important for them to wait for the right invitation, though, otherwise they will not get any recognition or experience success for their efforts.

Reflectors are the rarest Type because they have no definition within themselves they can rely on. They are completely open and appear to be vulnerable with all nine centers undefined. However, the openness is very different than in any other Type, where openness stands in contrast to what is fixed. A Reflector comes into the world absorbing everything, feeling everything, and taking it all in. When one gets past identifying with conditioning, undefined centers are the source of wisdom. The Reflector thus embodies the greatest possibility for wisdom in life.

The Reflector’s Not-Self theme is disappointment. They are born in wonder of what life is, but given that there is no fixed anchor within their nature, everything is simply moving through them. This ultimately bring a sense of awe along with the potential for disappointment. The disappointment has to do with the nature of their Authority. Once they know and live their Strategy, they can reach their goal of experiencing Surprise.
